Input, Mappings & Controls
2.2.Axis
The Axis section allows you to assign any button or axis to a Dualshock 4 axis.
Adding a Axis Mapping
To add a new axis mapping click the ‘Detect Input’ button on the Axis tab.
When the following prompt appears press the input you wish to bind to.
When an input has been selected it will show under ‘Device input’.
You can now select the Dualshock axis you wish to map to from the ‘DS4 Input’ drop down menu. The available options will change depending on whether you have input a button or an axis.
A button input will allow the following mappings:
- lstick left
- lstick right
- lstick up
- lstick down
- rstick left
- rstick right
- rstick up
- rstick down
- l2
- r2
A axis input will allow the following mappings:
- lstick x
- lstick y
- rstick x
- rstick y
- l2
- r2
If you input an button then the ‘Axis Settings’ box will be disabled as these only apply to axis.
Deadzone
This setting specifies where axis output will START. By default this is set to 20, this means an input of 1 will always output a minimum of 20.
Sensitivity
This setting is a multiplier, the higher the value the greater the increase in output compared to input. Values < 1 will reduce the output.
Acceleration
This setting controls the speed at which output will increase. Values > 1 will increase acceleration and values < 1 will decrease it. This setting is not available for Mouse input, this is controlled separately under the ‘Mouse’ tab.
Shape
This setting controls how diagonal output is processed, by default it is set to circle which means diagonal movements cannot reach maximum output on both axis. In the following diagram the green area represents allowed output with a circular output and the blue square is with Square output.
When you have configured the above values you can then click the ‘Add’ button to add the axis mapping to the config.
The new mapping will be listed in the grid below.
Editing a Axis Mapping
To edit an existing mapping simply highlight it in the grid so it looks like the following:
Input values and settings will then update to reflect the selected mapping.
Make the desired changes to these values then click the ‘Update’ button to apply and save the changes to the config.
Deleting a Axis Mapping
To delete an axis mapping highlight the row as when editing so it looks like the following:
The ‘Remove’ button will then be enabled, click this to remove the selected mapping from the config.
You can select multiple rows at once to remove several mappings in one go. The shortcut CTRL + A will highlight all mappings.
